Everyone: "Where do you see yourself in a few of years?"
Me: "Honestly? Do you want my honest opinion, or the shit they make you write about your year of graduation in high school?"
Them: "Just, where do you see yourself? Seriously."
Me: "I see myself always awake at four in the morning. I'm at a desk, a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other. I'm staring at something I've written, and I can't determine whether I think it's brilliant, or complete garbage. I live in a shitty apartment. I have deadlines at work that I always just barely meet. I could go on forever."
Them: "Holy shit! Why? Why do you see yourself that way?"
Me: "Because you realize that everything you've been told as a child is a lie. Magical places don't exist unless you're a positive person. You can't be what you want to be when you grow up, or you'll probably be living in a cardboard box. That math you learned? Useless. All those hours upon hours studying for shit when they should have been teaching psychology and ethics. They blame our generation for everything, when they're the ones that made us, that trained us. All the things we were ever taught don't matter in the end. One little mistake and you could end up begging on the streets, or dead. My "future" may seem awful to you, but shit is way worse for other people. And that includes the people that get up at six every morning for their morning commute, to sit at a too small desk in a suffocating cubicle in a town they want to burn. Where do you see yourself in a few years?"

It's absolutely soul crushing
to see you in any sort of pain. To see ANYONE in any sort of pain. Even the people I “hate”, I find myself hoping they find their way to a better life. It doesn’t make me a saint at all. But it makes me feel a little more human.
